2006年，他的一首《Dig Dug (Shake It)》讓他在華盛頓小有名氣。Wale在2006年引起了製作人Mark Ronson，並在07年被引薦進Allido Records，並在這個廠牌下發行了幾張Mixtape而且開始出現於MTV和一些國家音樂雜誌。Wale的第一張錄音室專輯《Attention Deficit》在09年發行後，雖然並沒有引起特別大的反響，但是為其贏得了不錯的口碑。在2011年初，Wale與Rick Ross的廠牌Maybach Music Group簽約,參與了廠牌群星專輯Self Made Vol. 1的創作。他的專輯Ambition發行於2011年11月1日。
