作者簡介
劉易斯（Clive Staples Lewis, 1898~1963），1898年2月生於北愛爾蘭首府貝爾法斯特的一個清教徒家庭，律師之家，從小就喜歡躲在小閣樓上耽讀、幻想。童年時代生活平靜安逸，但9歲時母親不幸去世，隨後他就被送往英格蘭一所嚴格的寄宿學校，從此逐漸遠離了父親，直接影響了他筆下魔法世界的誕生。他26歲登上牛津大學教席，人稱“最偉大的牛津人”。他60歲遇到一生摯愛，卻在兩年後遭遇天人永隔之苦。他1963年離開人世之前，就為十年後才去世的摯友托爾金寫好了訃文。
劉易斯一生著述甚豐，出版過若干關於英國中世紀及文藝復興時期文學的評論作品。在學術研究方面最重要的著作有《愛的寓言：中世紀傳統研究》、《十六世紀英語文學》、《個人的異端》等，在宗教方面有《痛苦問題》、《純粹基督教信仰》等，在文學創作上則有科幻小說“空間三部曲”（《沉寂的行星之外》、《皮爾蘭德拉》和《駭人的力量》）與《納尼亞王國傳奇》。
