In order to enhance the international competitiveness of talent cultivation and follow the intermational teaching philosophy, many universities in China have implemented the training mode of“International Class", a mode of bilingual teaching or teaching in English, in which original editions of textbooks widely used in American and European countries are adopted.There are many differences between original textbooks and domestic ones in the contents with problems in original editions usually coming from engineering practice and the figures in 3-D from the pictures of a real engineering system.
During the past years of teaching international classes, we found that those differences posed great difficulty for the students to understand the textbook and they were in great need of corresponding reference materials. So this book, Solutions Manual of Theoretical Mechanics, was written, aiming to provide reference for the undergraduates in studying theoretical mechanics in the bilingual teaching context.
This manual is prepared by Yan Zhao (Chapters 1-4) and Ping Yi (Chapters 5-13). We acknowledge the help from our graduate students who assisted in the problem-solving and proofreading of the book. We also thank those to whose books and teaching materials we referred. Last but not least, we beg forgiveness of all those who have been with us in editing the manual and whose names we have failed to mention.
