《In My Own Words》是尼歐的首張個人專輯。在這張《In My Own Words》當中，尼歐並沒有像很多R&B歌手那樣在專輯中融入過多的流行舞曲元素，而是更多的保持了一種20世紀70、80年代R&B歌曲的感覺。《Let me get this Right》，《When you're Mad》和《So Sick》都是這張專輯中非常出色的單曲。而且尼歐這張專輯的歌詞的煽情功力也非同一般。
