據詞曲創作人之一Anne-Marie稱，她和其他創作人於2019年共同創作I Love Me這首歌，之後由Demi Lovato錄製。Demi在訪談上表示I Love Me這首歌是一首“有趣輕鬆”的歌曲，傳達“積極向上”的態度。她解釋道：“每個人都可以自己過得很好。”在另一訪談中，Demi表示這首歌講述了“愛護自我”的主題，她說：“這首歌講述了，人們總是苛責自己，自我消極態度，我們很輕易就會聽信。但人們何時才能足夠愛護自己呢？”
