2010年8月21日就在U2樂隊的歐洲360巡演中他們首次發布了新單曲《Every Breaking Wave》。據樂隊成員稱，他們是在芬蘭的赫爾辛基(Helsinki)演出時發布的這支單曲，這是他們給瑞典歌迷的驚喜。
U2樂隊主唱波若(Bono)在一片藍色背景中唱到，“就像海邊的每一個波浪一樣，這是我所能達到的最遠的地方了，”在他背後伴奏的是樂隊的另一位成員伊萬斯(Evans)。之後波若說，“之前沒有任何人聽過這支單曲，包括我們倆。
