2015年第三張專輯《E·MO·TION》本月剛過一周年發行紀念日，為了回饋歌迷，Carly Rae Jepsen竟然驚喜釋出一周年紀念大禮《Emotion Side B》，這張包含了8首新歌的專輯是廣受好評的《E·MO·TION》的Side-B版本。Side B發行當天，Carly Rae Jepsen還特意給冬粉寫了一段話，大意是：那些在創作Emotion專輯過程中出現的額外歌曲，蹲妹沒想過要將分享出去，直到在這次巡演中遇見了那么多可愛的冬粉，給了她最快樂的時光，讓她非常感恩，更想以此回饋歌迷，於是促成了這次Side B的發行。

背景和發展

在2015年6月，Carly推出了她的第三張錄音室專輯，E·MO·TION，遇到了一個並不熱烈的的商業反應。儘管如此，這張專輯還是讓冬粉產生了強烈的崇拜和讓她變成“CriticalDarling”。E·MO·TION被NPR , NME , Complex , and The Village Voice等網站列入年度專輯名單。而且專輯的宣傳周期期間，Carly在廣受歡迎的2016年Pitchfork音樂節上的表演受到了廣泛好評。

在2016年3月的WMSC電台採訪，Carly表達了一個願望，她將會釋出一些錄製專輯後未被選進專輯裡的歌曲，說她一直在考慮一個E·MO·TION2.0版本。在給E·MO·TION專輯歌曲排序的時候，Carly和她的團隊不得不把專輯曲目限制在17首以內：

其中不包括在專輯中的歌，“When I'm Alone”被韓國娛樂公司SM娛樂購買，收錄於F(x)的第四張正規專輯4 Walls中。

Emotion Remixed +在日本獨家發布並選了兩首新歌“First Time”和“Fever”，後來也收錄在Emotion: Side B中。

2011年，Carly參加了她家鄉British Columbia 's Healthy Living Alliance反吸菸運動的健康生活聯盟，叫做“Quitters Unite”，其作為號召的未發行歌曲被重新改編成了"Store"。

Entertainment Weekly的編輯給了這張專輯A-的分數，寫到"Side B is that bash: intimate yet inclusive, with an invitation personally delivered by hand."

Exclaim!的Jill Krajewski給了這張專輯8/10的分數，寫到"Unlike many B-side collections, much of E·MO·TION: Side B has single potential to the point where it's crazy that high-energy synth-pop gems like "First Time," "Higher" and "Body Language" were left off of E·MO·TION for mid-tempo bonus cuts like "Black Heart."

Pitchfork的Brad Nelson給了這張專輯7.1/10的分數，寫到"That the songs can sound enormous while maintaining this kind of person-to-person intimacy is Jepsen's particular talent."
