創作背景
《DNA.》是肯德里克·拉馬爾為專輯《DAMN.》錄製的第二首歌曲。在歌曲的第一段的人聲和伴奏錄製完成後，製作人Mike Will Made It在肯德里克·拉馬爾建議下讓鼓點環繞著肯德里克·拉馬爾的無人聲伴奏說唱進行。肯德里克·拉馬爾希望自己的說唱給人一種“混亂”的感覺，於是Mike Will Made It以“讓肯德里克·拉馬爾的說唱像是在戰鬥”為目標製作了第二段的伴奏。歌曲的第二段對瑞克·詹姆斯歌曲《Mary Jane》1982年現場版的一部分進行了採樣。此外，歌曲的還採樣了一段福克斯電視台將矛頭對準肯德里克·拉馬爾的評論。
