AWOLNATION is an American indie rock band, and is the solo project of Aaron Bruno, formerly of Under the Influence of Giants and Hometown Hero. The band's first single, "Sail," debuted at #30 on the U.S. Billboard Alternative Songs chart on the chart week of February 10, 2011. The band released their debut album Megalithic Symphony digitally on March 15th, 2011, and the physical CD was released March 29th, 2011 on Red Bull Records. The song was first featured on the band's debut extended playBack from Earth(2010) and was later featured on their debut albumMegalithic Symphony(2011).
Released as a single on January 4, 2011, "Sail" is the band's most commercially successful song to date. It debuted at number 89 on the United StatesBillboardHot 100chart in September 2011, spending twenty weeks on the chart before dropping out. The single re-entered the Hot 100 a year later, becoming a massivesleeper hitand reaching a new peak of number 17. It is the 2nd longest song to stay inside theBillboard Hot 100chart of all time, with 78 weeks, only surpassed byImagine Dragons' "Radioactive".
