本書針對香港考試體系改革中新增部分——由老師組織並評分的“兩年多考”的校本評述，研究其對學生態度和焦慮兩個因素的影響。書中採用混合研究方法，對香港7所中學500餘名中學生進行問卷調查，並在3所學校進行個案研究，深入探究校本評核對學生的影響及其形成機制，尤其是評核本身形成性和終結性雙重身份之間的衝突在考試影響中的作用。
