研究領域本人的學術研究圍繞基於仿真的複雜系統性能評價與最佳化展開，綜合運用序最佳化理論、描述複雜性科學、基於事件的動態規劃理論等，解決製造系統、電力系統、建築系統等實際系統中的相關實際問題。目前研究重點在如下幾個方面：
基於事件的決策過程。
增強序最佳化理論。
具有描述複雜性約束的大規模離散事件動態系統策略最佳化。
大型電網的安全評估面向節能、安全與舒適的建築集成控制。
網路化水資源調度。
