《英語假分裂句的系統功能分析/語言服務書系·英語語法研究》研究了類似“我要的是這個（What I want is this）”的英語句子結構。這一結構在形式語法上稱為“假分裂句（結構）”或“wh-分裂句（結構）”，在系統功能語法上稱為“主位等同結構”“主位認同結構”或“事物/指稱在事件中充當角色結構”。作者在研究這一結構的過程中發覺現有研究成果中存在一些值得探討的問題，並試圖對此進行一些針對性探討，並提出解決辦法。
