紐約不插電

1993年11月18日，這檔電視節目錄製於11月份，5個月後MTV台開始反覆播放它，那時柯本剛剛自殺身亡。今天看來正是涅槃樂隊（Nirvana）改變了不插電演出的模式與風格，在當時給樂迷以巨大影響，並引發了一場錄製不插電專輯的風潮。“如果你要問是什麼導致了我們的那一場表演滿布愁雲”，帕特·斯密爾說，“那么我只能告訴你，是恐懼的原因。我們從未想過在那樣一個地方演出，我們太緊張了。”這場演出避開了他們的流行金曲《Smells Like Teen Spirit》，翻唱了六首歌曲，還請了嘉賓出席，所有MTV台的俗套都沒有免除。從樂隊的神情上可以看出他們當時很緊張，然而音樂拯救了他們，當他們專注於表演的時候，緊張感被清除了。節目製片人說：“我們請樂隊的其他隊員都做了必要的演講來介紹個人情況，唯獨柯本沒有，他一直在躲閃。後來我們就不再勉強他了。我們明白，他有自己的表達方式和態度。不過後來，柯本讓我們為他拍了一個他微笑著的鏡頭，我想這個微笑里，他給我們留下了某個提示。5個月後（1994年清明節），他就離開了我們。”
