十年前的第一集《猛鬼街》令主演希瑟（希瑟·蘭根坎普飾）成為成功的演員，十年後，希瑟已經擁有幸福的家庭，但是最近，在頻發的地震與陌生人的騷擾電話事件之間，噩夢令希瑟頗不心安。希瑟與丈夫將合作電影，而電影公司為了回響《猛鬼街》影迷的期待，準備邀請希瑟出演最新一集的猛鬼街，但被希瑟婉拒。希瑟的丈夫在回家路上意外身亡，而兒子迪倫近期的行為愈發詭異，惡魔弗萊迪（羅伯特·英格蘭德飾）在她夢中的形象愈發清晰，希瑟感到迪倫身處弗萊迪的威脅之中，這個銀幕上的殺人狂似乎從觀眾的支持中獲得了強大的力量，從而躍出電影變成了真實的兇手……
