沈樹忠，1961年10月生，現為南京大學地球科學與工程學院教授，曾任中國科學院南京地質古生物研究所研究員、博士生導師和現代古生物學和地層學國家重點實驗室主任。曾獲得中國科學院引進海外傑出人才計畫（百人計畫）、國家自然科學基金委員會的國家傑出青年基金、優秀創新群體學術帶頭人、國家科技部973項目首席科學家以及優秀回國人員成就獎和新世紀百千萬人才工程國家級人選等榮譽和稱號，2015年12月增選為中國科學院院士。

人物經歷
1981年畢業於浙江煤炭工業學校（浙江工商大學前身之一），
1986年在中國礦業大學獲得碩士學位，
1989年在該校獲得博士學位。
1996-2000分別在日本和澳大利亞從事博士後研究。

成就及榮譽
2004年以來，連續兩屆擔任國際二疊紀地層分會秘書長和選舉委員，現任國際樂平統工作組主席，曾應邀任日本東北大學客座教授和澳大利亞Deakin大學榮譽研究員，並獲得優秀百人計畫、優秀回國人員成就獎和江蘇省科技進步一等獎等。已經發表論著140餘篇（部），其中國際SCI收錄論文50餘篇。
2015年12月增選為中國科學院地學部院士。
