楊立中是中國科學技術大學教授，湖南桃源人，中共黨員，1968年10月生，博士，博士生導師。建築火災研究室主任，火災科學國家重點實驗室室務會成員，中國工程熱物理學會燃燒分會委員。

研究方向
建築火災（可燃物熱解及著火、特殊火行為及煙氣毒物遷移規律等）、特殊環境和條件火災（如捷運火災、隧道火災、列車火災等）、緊急條件下人員疏散規律、事故災害評估及預測等。涉及研究領域：工程熱物理、安全工程、消防工程等。
主要貢獻
主持完成了2項國家基金面上項目，協助管理完成了2項國家基金重點項目並承擔主要研究工作。目前，主持國家基金面上項目1項，協助主持973火災項目課題三和2項基金委重點項目，是基金委重大國際合作等項目的研究骨幹。共發表論文119篇，其中SCI或EI收錄57篇，獨立出版著作1部，參編著作1部，獲專利3項（其中發明專利1項）。

主持了火災早期特性實驗台、小尺寸轟燃實驗台以及小尺寸煙氣毒物遷移組合實驗台等實驗平台的研製；提出了纖維素材料恆定熱流條件下熱解的更為精確的一維模型，並進一步擴展為變化熱流條件下的熱解模型；揭示了尺度效應等對可燃固體材料輻射點燃影響的規律；提出了線性變熱流條件下木材著火的複合判據；把突變理論套用到特殊火災現象的研究，提出了液體回燃現象的非線性動力學模型；發現了特定建築結構下，遠距離處煙氣毒物濃度高於火源近處的特殊現象；建立了一個新的描述火災中煙氣毒性危害的“RRC”動態模型；提出了體現真實火災場景的“總危險度圖”，引入視野的概念，建立了考慮火災煙氣對人員疏散影響的元胞自動機模型以及多自主體人員行為模型。
