研究領域

中國經濟史、亞洲經濟史

研究課題與研究經過

從19世紀到20世紀上半葉，中國是世界上唯一一個採取白銀本位的奇異存在。因此城山智子近年來在其著作《大恐慌下中國：市場、國家和世界經濟》以後的研究課題中，既關注中國的貨幣和金融系統的結構和動態、中國與國際貨幣體系的關係，也留意實證。此外，近年來，而且，近年來，在中國上海市檔案館為中心，從19世紀中葉到20世紀50年代的企業經營檔案大量公開。這些新資料被大量利用在研究中，例如企業的資金來源、利潤分配、政府的限制和補助等方面，以及20世紀中國資本市場的嘗試和結構動態、政府和企業的關係等問題研究也進一步深入。在中國經濟史的研究方向，近年來，城山智子還與海外學者共同研究了18世紀末以後的亞洲國家間相關貿易，並對中國國內經濟的區域關係進行分析，並對亞洲各地區的商人群體和貨幣體系進行了比較研究。
