In 2011 Sharav won the Pontins "Star of the Future" event aged 19 beating fellow ScotsmanRoss Muir4–0 in the final inPrestatyn. A few months later as an amateur, Sharav reached the last 16 stage of his tournament debut in thePlayers Tour Championship, beating professionals,Liang Wenbo4–0,Adam Duffy4–1 andGary Wilson4–2, before a 4–0 defeat toMarcus Campbell.He then enteredQ Schoolin 2014, with the aim to win a two-year professional tour card.He was unsuccessful, losing in the final rounds of both events toTian PengfeiandMichael Leslie.He was though able to enter in all of the ranking tournaments as a top-up player for the2014/2015 seasondue to his strong Q School performances. He qualified for the venue stages of the2014 International Championshipand2015 Indian Open, losing in the first round of both.He then entered Q School at the end of the season.
Professional
In thefirst eventof Q School, Sharav reached the final round and made breaks of 103 and 83 and againstAdam Duffyand won 4–3, a win which gave Sharav to a two-year card to theWorld Snooker Tourfor the2015/2016 seasonand2016/2017seasons.He won a match as a professional at the first attempt by beating Andrew Milliard 5–3 in the2015 Australian Goldfields Openqualifiers. .Sharav could not qualify for any ranking event in the2015/2016 seasonoutside of theUK ChampionshipandWelsh Openfor which he gained automatic entry. At the UK he came back from 5–2 behind againstAlan McManusto level at 5–5. Sharav got the snooker he needed in the decider, but McManus potted the blue to win in a match that finished at 1:30am.At the Welsh Open he lost 4–2 toJack Lisowskiin the first round.
A 4–1 win overSean O'Sullivansaw Sharav qualify for the2016 Indian Openwhere he was defeated 4–0 byStuart Carrington. He overcameNigel Bond6–3 to play in theInternational Championshipand lost 6–3 toJohn Higginsin the first round. Sharav eliminatedOliver Lines4–1 in the first round of both theNorthern Ireland Openand theWelsh Open, but was then eliminated in the second round 4–0 byYan Bingtaoand 4–1 byRobert Milkinsrespectively.Sharav qualified for theChina Openby overcomingJamie Jones5–3 and whitewashedRoss Muir5–0 in the first round, before being unable to pick up a frame in a 5–0 loss toJudd Trump.Sharav finished the year outside the top 64 in the world rankings, but has secured a new tour card by taking the seventh spot out of eight on the one-year ranking list.
