《人道主義的呼喚（英文版）》是在《人道主義的呼喚》第1至4輯的基礎上編選的文集，其中，第1輯21篇，第二輯11篇，第三輯12篇，第四輯12篇，共56篇。另外補入了2001年4月16日作者在第十五次全國殘聯工作會議上的講話第1部分“新時期殘疾人事業的四個發展階段”、2013年9月19日在中國殘疾人聯合會第六次全國代表大會閉幕式上的講話“讓中國的殘疾人都過上好日子”和2014年3月15日“在中國殘疾人福利基金會成立30周年紀念會上的講話”等3篇，全書總計59篇，部分篇章的題目略有調整。
作者簡介
Mr. Deng Pufang, a native of Guang'an Courity, Sichuan Province, was born in April 1944. He graduated from the Department of Technical Physics at Peking University and majored in atomic physics. For decades, he has dedicated himself to the cause of persons with disabilities. He is now the Honorary Chairman of China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF). Before that, he served as President of China Foundation for Disabled Persons, Chairman of the Presidium and President of the Executive Board of the CDPF and Executive President of the Beijing Organizing Committee of the 2008 Olympic Games. Mr. Deng served as a member of the Standing Committee of the 9th and 10th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and then as its Vice Chairman.
Mr. Deng has been a pioneer in developing the rights of persons with disabilities as well as an advocate and loyal practitioner of humanitarian thinking since the launch of the reform and opening up of China. He was awarded UN Secretary-General Award in 1988; Presidential Award in 1990 and Henry H. Kessler Award in 1992 by Rehabilitation International; Special Award of Asia-Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons in 1993 and Special Award of Merit in 2002 by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific; UN Prize in the Field of Human Rights in 2003, as well as the Paralympic Order by the International Paralympic Committee in 2005. Mr. Deng received an honorary doctorate from Boise State University in 2005.
Mr. Deng enjoys playing bridge and writing calligraphy in his leisure time.
