Gervais在劇中扮演Andy Millman，一名為圓從影夢而從銀行辭職，卻始終只能演些小配角的傢伙
實際上，他甚至很少能得到一個有台詞的角色，為此他整天呆在演員休息室，同其他臨時演員一起，包括他的好友Maggie Jacobs，羨慕著那些主角們。Stephen Merchant在劇中扮演Andy的經紀人。每集的Extra都將會安排一段特別的劇情，由不同的客座明星來客串
